On September 21, Sacred Fire Community Firekeeper Anne Lynn completed her initiation fiesta to become a mara’akame — a traditional healer and community leader — in Tepoztlán, México. As offerings were being made to begin the fiesta, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck just 40 miles east of the fiesta location. Although we feel sad for the many losses this event caused, it felt like an auspicious opening to the profound and ancient work we were engaging in to bring new healers into the world.
