Dan Sprinkles
grew up and lived around the world, including Taiwan, Greece and up and down both coasts of the U.S. plus Hawaii and Alaska. Dan attended college at Vanderbilt University and received an honors degree in Electrical Engineering. After college he was commissioned as a naval officer and was selected for nuclear training. He spent a year learning nuclear theory and hands-on nuclear plant management. Dan served five years as a naval officer on two nuclear submarines in clandestine, highly classified submerged operations. During this time he was responsible for various nuclear plant operations, maintenance of nuclear weapons and the operation of high tech, billion-dollar submarines. After serving in the navy, Dan received an MBA from Harvard Business School. During his business career, Dan spent over twenty years as a corporate executive, including International Controller (for Dole Foods), CFO for an electronics company in California and years consulting.
At age 50, Dan began a new phase of his life. With the heart opening and direction provided through a vision quest, he undertook a path toward elderhood (giving back, helping others, healing). He is and initiated shaman in the Nahua tradition (granicero) and also an initiated shaman in the Huichol tradition (marakame). He serves as a Board member of the Blue Deer Center, a retreat center providing a home for ancestral traditions and is also a Shaman-in-Residence for the Blue Deer Center. Additionally, he and his partner, Annie Eagan, serve as initiated fire keepers under the auspices of the Sacred Fire Community.
Dan is the facilitator of the Sacred Fire Community Lifeways‘ initiation for young men, Sacred Awakening.
